“Rinpoche taught me that the five element mothers are my friends. Through practice and understanding, they have become my BEST FRIENDS, especially Mother Space. I am never alone or lonely.”

ANDREA VELLOSO

Filmmaking and Spirituality: Bringing Lama's Vision to Life

Please join me in this episode with Andrea Velloso, a Brazilian filmmaker, producer, screenwriter, and visionary artist. In the early 1990s, Andrea met Lama Gangchen, who invited her to produce and direct a documentary exploring his teachings and the interdependence of the elements across diverse locations: the Andes Mountains, Tibet, and the Amazon.

This collaboration led to the creation of the award-winning documentary Tendrel, which delves into the Buddhist concept of “dependent arising” — the profound idea that all phenomena are interconnected and arise in relation to one another.

In this episode, we discuss Andrea’s journey into filmmaking, the deep spiritual lessons from her travels, and how the philosophy of interdependence shaped her work and life. Her documentary Tendrel, inspired by Lama Gangchen’s teachings, is a testament to her ability to bridge the spiritual with the cinematic.

Key Takeaways:

  • The story behind Tendrel and the unique journey of this award-winning film.
  • Insights into the concept of “dependent arising” or Tendrel in Tibetan Buddhism.
  • How Andrea’s creative vision was deeply influenced by Lama Gangchen’s teachings.
  • Listen to the adventures of traveling with Lama to the Andes, Tibet, and the Amazon.
  • The challenges and rewards of bringing a deeply spiritual topic to the screen.

Listen and be inspired to deepen your experience of inner joy, inner peace and living your best life! Check out her beautiful movie Tendrel here
