FOOD FOR THE POOR NEPAL

We focus on the very first necessity of life, food

FOOD FOR THE POOR NEPAL provides nutritious meals to the neediest people living on the streets of Kathmandu

HUNGRY AND DESPERATE PEOPLE IN NEPAL DEPEND ON THE KINDNESS OF SPONSORS LIKE YOU EVERY DAY

Our mission is to distribute freshly-made hot meals to the homeless and their children every day in Kathmandu. We ask you to help make it possible to continue this life-saving work every day.

OUR VISION IS TO FEED THE POOR AND HOMELESS IN NEPAL WITH LOVE AND WITH THE FINANCIAL SUPPORT FROM SPONSORS

The inspiration for FOOD FOR THE POOR NEPAL came from the founder of Help in Action, Lama Gangchen Rinpoche, who expressed a wish back in 1992 to feed the most vulnerable who gather around the Bouddhanath, one of the largest ancient stupas in South Asia that is located in the Bouddha district of Kathmandu.

After witnessing the devastating effects of the 2015 and 2023 earthquakes on an already fragile homeless population in Nepal, Jan de Ruiter, Board President of Mani Bhadra Lama Gangchen Wise Projects Foundation (MBLGWPF), knew the time was now to act upon Lama Gangchen’s vision.

And so, FOOD FOR THE POOR NEPAL was established in 2023 by Jan and a team of dedicated volunteers who prepare and deliver nutritious meals every single day to those most in need.

TOGETHER WE CAN DO IT!

A dedicated and loving team of volunteers, and the space and resources to realize our vision are already in place and making a difference! But in order to sustain our commitment on a daily basis, we need your help. Together with donations from sponsors around the world, in Lama Gangchen’s own words, “We can do it!”

FOOD FOR THE POOR NEPAL falls under the umbrella of Help in Action Onlus Italy, one of our sister non-profit organizations founded by Lama Gangchen in 1993. 100% of every donation is spent on food for the poor and homeless in Kathmandu, Nepal. All donations are tax-deductible.
